Tiangong-2 infrared fish-eye camera: take a group photo for "heaven" and "god"

Release time:2019-07-02 View:291

Tiangong ii and shenzhou-11 are currently traveling in space. Tiangong ii released companion star ii on Wednesday, carrying the world's first set of wide-field infrared fish-eye cameras independently developed and designed by China. So what's so different about the world's leading infrared camera?

At the China institute of electronics and electronics, the reporter saw the infrared fish-eye camera, which is a backup of the tiangong-2, exactly like the fish-eye camera that is taking pictures in space. It was completely developed and designed by our country. From the outside, there doesn't seem to be anything special.

Liu tongyu, director of the optoelectronics department, China academy of optoelectronics, said: from the outside, the camera itself looks like a telepixel camera used in our home. The same appearance, but very different performance, it can see a wide range of angles, up to the hemisphere (180 degrees).

This wide-field infrared fish-eye camera has a 180-degree field of view, compared to a normal camera, and can even capture objects parallel to each side of the lens.

So what kind of help can this kind of wide-field infrared fish-eye camera have for the normal operation of tiangong-2 and shenzhou-11 combination?

Liu tongyu: for example, when the spacecraft is in the sky, it may have some abnormal attitude orbit. So, for example, if I use a camera to monitor it, if the field of view is relatively small, once the anomaly is out of my ideal Angle to observe it, then if the field of view is not large enough, I will not be able to see it again, maybe I need to spend a lot of complex resources to turn around and aim, and it may be lost. This would not happen with a camera with such a large field of view.

The tiangong-2 companion infrared fish-eye camera is part of the tiangong-2 space laboratory program. In the future, the technology will be widely used to monitor various spacecraft, provide support for in-orbit services and serve human space exploration.
